03Why theory first

You will not
handle a firearm
before you
understand one.

The legal module is not a formality. Before SAPS will grant competency, you have to demonstrate that you understand the law you will be operating under — when you may use force, when you may not, how the firearm must be stored and how it may be transported.

We put that material here so you can work through it at your own pace, as many times as you need, before you ever pick up a firearm. It means your range day is spent shooting rather than reading.

Every module maps to the unit standards of the course you are enrolled on, so there is no gap between what you study and what you are assessed against.
