What we have done to make this site usable by everyone, what we know still needs work, and how to tell us when something does not work for you.

This website is intended to be usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability or the technology they use to browse. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.
Accessibility is treated as a requirement in this build, not a retrofit. Where something does not meet that standard, we want to know.
The following are implemented as defaults across the site rather than optional extras.
- Full keyboard navigation, with a visible brass focus indicator on every interactive element
- A skip-to-content link as the first focusable element on every page
- Semantic HTML landmarks, headings in logical order, and labelled form controls
- Sufficient colour contrast for text and interactive elements in both the dark and light surface chapters
- A complete reduced-motion path: all transforms, parallax and scroll-linked animation are removed when prefers-reduced-motion is set, leaving opacity fades only
- Smooth scrolling, the custom reticle cursor and all decorative overlays disabled for reduced-motion users and touch devices
- Text alternatives on informative imagery, and decorative imagery hidden from assistive technology
- Status messages announced to screen readers via live regions
- Touch targets sized to at least 44 by 44 pixels
- Content reflows at 320 pixels width without loss of information
We would rather list these than pretend they do not exist. The following are known issues in the current prototype.
- Some imagery inherited from the previous website has thin or missing alternative text and needs rewriting
- The interactive focal-plane demonstrator conveys information visually and its readout is not yet announced to screen readers in full
- Video content, where added later, will require captions and a transcript
- Third-party payment pages at checkout are outside our control and may not meet the same standard
This site uses deliberate motion as part of its design language. We recognise that this can cause discomfort for some users, which is why the entire motion system collapses when your operating system requests reduced motion.
If you have set reduced motion in your device settings, the site will respect it automatically without any further action from you. If you have not, and you would like to, that setting is found in your operating system's accessibility preferences.
If you encounter a barrier on this site, please tell us what you were trying to do, what happened, and what technology you were using. We will respond and, where possible, fix it.

This site is assessed against WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The assessment covers the home page, the training catalogue and a course dossier, the shop and a product page, the licensing process, and the contact and checkout flows.
This statement was last reviewed in September 2026 and will be reviewed whenever the site changes substantially.
